Onboarding: the signup process
This document describes the complete process from deciding to subscribe to SipSop until your system is up and running. It covers the subscription flow, payment, service configuration, and what to do while you wait for provisioning.

I --> J[Service active — you start seeing CDR]Step 1: Choose your plan and configure the service
When starting the signup process, you fill out a form with:
- Company name — how it will appear in your account
- Plan — Essential ($49/mo), Business ($129/mo), or Enterprise (quote)
- Number of extensions — how many phones you need. Plans include base extensions; you can add more if needed.
- Number of lines — how many simultaneous calls you want
- Extra DIDs — if you need more phone numbers beyond what's included in the plan
- Optional setup fee ($199) — if you want white-glove onboarding (full configuration by the Sopinf team)
- Billing address — required to correctly calculate taxes and fees
As you fill out the form, you see the total price in real time: base charge + extra extensions + extra DIDs + setup fee if selected.
Do I need to know exactly how many extensions I need right now?
Not exactly — you can start with those included in your plan and add more later. But having a rough idea of how many phones or softphones you'll use helps you choose the right plan from the start.
Step 2: Stripe checkout
Once you confirm the configuration, you proceed to the Stripe checkout — a secure Stripe page where you enter your credit card.
What's charged at checkout:
- The plan base charge (monthly, recurring)
- Selected add-ons (extra extensions, DIDs, etc.)
- The setup fee as a one-time charge, if selected
Stripe handles the entire payment process securely. Sopinf does not store your card details.
After completing payment:
- You receive a Stripe confirmation email with the charge details
- Your request is registered in the Sopinf system
Step 3: Service provisioning
This is the step the Sopinf team handles. It includes:
- Creating your space in the system — your organization, users, and account structure
- Assigning your extension range in FreePBX — extensions 1001–100X (or the corresponding range) are configured in the PBX
- Setting up your DID — your phone number is routed to the system
- Activating billing — your subscription is linked to the CDR and billing system
Provisioning typically takes 1 to 3 business days from payment confirmation. For white-glove cases (with setup fee), it may take a bit longer because it includes a detailed configuration session.
💡 What can you do while you wait? Once you have portal access, you can use the onboarding wizard to prepare the information the team needs to get everything configured.
Step 4: Onboarding wizard in the portal
When you log into the portal after signup, the dashboard shows an onboarding banner that guides you through 5 configuration steps. These steps don't block anything — they're information we need to configure your service correctly.
The 5 wizard steps
1. Business hours
Define when your business is open. Example: Monday to Friday 9am–7pm, Saturday 9am–5pm, Sunday closed. This controls how the IVR switches between the daytime greeting and the after-hours/weekend greeting.
2. IVR scripts
The message callers hear when they reach your phone system:
- Daytime greeting: "Thank you for calling [Your Business]. For sales, press 1. For administration, press 2..."
- After-hours greeting: "We're closed. Our hours are..."
You write the text and the team implements it (or records it if doing white-glove setup).
3. Voicemail
- The voicemail greeting
- The email address where you want to receive voice messages (voicemail-to-email)
4. Caller ID
The name that appears when you call out. Example: if you want customers to see "SUPERFOOD MARKET" instead of just the number, you set that here.
5. Employees and current numbers
List of employees with their assigned extension, and the current numbers you want to port (if you already have a number and want to keep it).
Number portability (LNP)
If you already have a business phone number and want to keep it, SipSop includes the porting process in all plans.
The port-in process takes between 3 and 15 business days depending on your current carrier. During that time, your current number keeps working — there's no service interruption.
To start portability, indicate it in step 5 of the wizard with:
- The number to port
- The account name with your current carrier
- The account PIN (if applicable)
Portal credential access
When provisioning is complete, you receive an email with:
- Portal URL:
portal.sipsop.io - Your username (email)
- Link to set or confirm your password
If you purchased white-glove setup, the team schedules a training session with you before or after the system goes live.
Typical total timeline
| Step | Estimated time |
|---|---|
| Signup + checkout | 10–15 minutes |
| Standard provisioning | 1–3 business days |
| Provisioning with white-glove setup | 3–5 business days |
| Number port-in | 3–15 additional business days |
Timelines may vary. If the process takes longer than expected, the Sopinf team will keep you informed.
